A day of relaxation and surfing

Duration: 1 day

Sometimes, we get lost in the pile of activities to do and discover, and don’t even take the time to enjoy the simple moments, or simply rest.
When staying at Bois de la Gachère, take the time to take it easy.
Don’t rush into things, do things you love!
You’ll be able to relax in total tranquillity.

Start the day gently with a dip in the campsite’s aquatic area. What better way to wake up than to plunge into clear, temperate water? The great thing about Le Bois de La Gachère is that if it’s a bit chilly, you can still enjoy the indoor swimming pool.

Staying at this 4-star campsite means you’re just a stone’s throw from sandy beaches. They are ideal for a wide range of activities. Nautical activities, but also fishing on foot.
Before setting off on this activity, be sure to check the tide tables.
Our staff will be happy to give you more information at the campsite reception.

rocky beach Vendée
la paracou beach near the campsite

This is the benchmark beach for shore fishing.
This beach is 13 kilometers from the campsite. You can get there by car. But in summer, when traffic is heavy, you’ll probably save time by cycling there on the cycle paths.

For this unusual outing, you’ll need to remember to bring your own equipment. :

  • take boots or shoes that are safe to wear
  • remember to bring a bucket or basin to store your loot in
  • a small rake will be required.
  • And don’t forget to bring a hat and sun cream!
surf training session Vendée

Whether you’re an amateur or an experienced surfer, head to Plage de la Gachère for a surfing session.
On site, the instructors will adapt to your level so you can have fun.
It’s time to put on your wetsuit.
This leap into the unknown makes you haggard.
Fortunately, you’re surrounded by a team that’s ready to take care of you.
The course begins on the sand. Time to get to grips with your board.
You learn how to stand up. On the sand, it’s easy…
After several rehearsals, it’s time to take the plunge.
The current makes it difficult to move forward.
But after several metres, you’re ready to tame the wave.
Lying on your board, you wait for the one that will make you ride.
There it is, the ideal wave. You swim with the force of your arms in the direction of the current, and then you try to stand up…much less easy than on the beach.
After several bowls, lots of laughter and a few liters of salt water, you finally manage to get to your feet. A few seconds, but the satisfaction is there.

camping au coeur du bois You’ll need patience and perseverance to ride the wave, but one thing’s for sure: you’ll have a time you’ll never forget.
