A remarkable day at Le Veillon
Are you ready to be amazed?
Duration: 1 day
Are you ready to discover an unsuspected place where forest and ocean are one?
Follow us, but be prepared to fall under the spell of this unique setting.
For this experience, we’re going to quench your thirst for discovery.
I have no doubt that you will enjoy this experience.
For several years now, this spot has been voted “most beautiful beach in Vendée”.
Have I aroused your curiosity?
If you have a long drive, we recommend an early start. This way, you can avoid traffic jams and enjoy the area in peace and quiet.
This well-known spot attracts many holidaymakers (which doesn’t detract from its charm).
There are two parking lots on site. One is paid, the other is free. But you can also park a little further away, on the avenue de la plage, and walk along the forest to the water’s edge.
To make sure that your day goes as smoothly as possible, there are a few things you need to bring along:
- your bathing suit (& beach kit: it would be a shame not to take advantage of the quality of the water at Le Veillon beach)
- a good pair of shoes (yes, you’ll be doing some walking) & flip-flops (more practical for walking in the sand)
- a bottle of water (remember to stay hydrated in hot weather)
- a picnic with all the food you love to eat (enough to treat yourself after the walk we’ve planned for you)
Once you’re properly equipped, you can set off in the direction of Plage du Veillon.
The Bois de La Gachère campsite is a 35-minute drive from this little corner of Paradise. Don’t worry, those miles are well worth the effort. All the more so as the road runs alongside the salt marshes of the Ile d’Olonne. If you’re a passenger, keep your eyes peeled for rare bird species.
Once there, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking spectacle. The ocean as far as the eye can see, blending into the blue of the sky. Stretches of sand jutting out into the ocean. And then, these islets, covered in pine trees, create a magnificent forest. This natural space is an invitation to relax.
To get a closer look at this natural area, we’ve booked you a short walk.
Follow the path into the pine forest (the entrance is at the parking lot). The path is signposted and takes you straight to La Guittière.
This small oyster-farming port with its authentic charm is the perfect place to relax and enjoy delicious freshly-caught seafood, with a breathtaking view over the channel.
Choose from oysters, clams, shrimps or langoustines, all accompanied by a delicious glass of white wine.
After a short break in this heavenly setting, you can resume your walk and return to the coolness of the pines.
Lunch in paradise
Has this little appetizer whetted your appetite? It’s time to find a nice spot to put your towel down and enjoy your little picnic. In addition to the coolness of the pine trees, you’ll have a breathtaking view of the lagoon. What more could you ask for?
These simple pleasures of life are the ones that will leave you with the best memories.
Now’s the time to get out your smartphone and take your best vacation snaps.
An eventful end to the day
If lazing on the beach isn’t your thing, the beach at Le Veillon is ideal for a number of water sports.
We recommend paddling. The calm of the lagoon is ideal for this activity.
Be prepared to take a few bowls. This seemingly simple activity isn’t all that simple after all!
Patience and balance are the watchwords.
Record these moments in your memory and treasure them. It’s these moments that make vacations so special.
You’ll love telling your friends and family about this day when you return from vacation.
