Exploring the Vendée islands
Enjoy your stay at camping Le Bois de La Gachère and recharge your batteries. Your vacations will be even more enjoyable.
If you really want a change of scenery, we suggest you head for the Vendée islands.
The islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier open their doors to you for an idyllic getaway.
Yeu Island, the jewel of the Atlantic
From your campsite, head for the Port of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie to board a boat bound for the beautiful island. Once there, everything is done on foot, or preferably by bike. No cars, no traffic jams, no pollution: just fresh air on your skin. Rent your bike on the island or on the mainland, but if you can, book in advance – they’re very popular in high season.
Between castle, rocky coves, wild coastline, small restaurants, sumptuous beaches and the port, lose yourself for a day.
Noirmoutier Island, in the north of the département
If you prefer, you can sail to the island of Noirmoutier. No need for a boat here. You can get there directly by car via the large bridge, or via the famous Passage du Gois. Depending on the tide, it is submersible. So pay attention to the time of day. At low tide, this is a popular spot for shore fishing.
If you’d like to take a stroll, there are plenty of beaches to choose from, including the Bois de la Chaise. Stroll along the island’s narrow streets, with their beautiful white houses, typical of the area and recognizable by their blue shutters.
You’ll also come across the Noirmoutier aquarium, with its impressive array of marine species.
After discovering these two beautiful islands, you can relax in your mobile home or on your pitch and enjoy all the advantages of the campsite: services, swimming pool…
